Belleville council is taking an important step toward new street lighting in the city at its meeting Monday afternoon.
Council is being asked to approve the company Phillips Lighting Canada as the supplier of a streetlight design program and LED lights.
Phillips Lighting was the lowest bidder at just under $1.4 million.
Energy savings from LED streetlights are estimated at $225,000, with savings on yearly maintenance estimated at upwards of $50,000.
Belleville council meets at 4 o’clock Monday at city hall.
