There was a big crowd of the young, old, and everything in between at Tweed’s Memorial Park for Remembrance Day ceremonies today (Friday, Nov 11/16).
Elementary school children joined residents, dignitaries, and past and present members of the military to pause and remember those who perished protecting our freedom and way of life.
Ceremony MC Wendell White thanked the students for their presence, calling them “the interest on debts so dearly paid”.
Veterans and current members of the Canadian Forces also received special mention as “you remind us of the magnitude of the sacrifices made”.
White urged people to also reflect on those wounded in conflicts and their families. Among the many people laying wreaths at the cenotaph was the Mayor of Tweed Jo-Anne Albert.
