For the first time in 61 years, the Quinte Junior Saints are the Central Ontario High School “AA” junior football champions.
Quinte scored all of their points in the second half to rally past the Adam Scott Lions of Peterborough 16-8 at Paul Paddon Field. Jake Akey scored on a 60 yard punt return followed by a Mack Kinnear 33 yard touchdown run.
In the Junior “AAA” final, the Thomas A. Stewart Griffins defeated the Centennial Chargers 53-17.
Today the Moira Trojans take on the Crestwood Mustangs in Peterborough in the Senior “AAA” championship while the Centennial Chargers host Adam Scott in the Senior “AA” final.
