Prince Edward County is considering giving a little extra to help kids get off to the right start in the morning.
At Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, Mayor Robert Quaiff suggested donating $2,500 to the annual Feed the Metre program for Food for Learning instead of the $1,000 originally planned.
The municipality normally contributes about $3,000 each year, however a large portion of parking meters have been uprooted to allow for downtown construction.
Mayor Quaiff suggested taking the increase in funds from the 2016 Community Grants Fund as there was $4,500 in unclaimed funds.
In 2015, the breakfast program received $15,428.02 from Belleville, $9,653.02 from Quinte West and $4,082.16 from the County.
