Motorists travelling Belleville’s Dundas Street West this week will have noticed a huge crane at the demolition site of the old Bay Bridge/CP Overpass.
Deputy Director of Engineering Ray Ford says the huge crane was needed to lift the heavy pieces, “very carefully.”
Ford says the reinforced steel beams are being recycled and the concrete blocks will go to a quarry for recycling.
The old bridge is expected to be completely demolished by this weekend.
