47 athletes from the Belleville Youth Swim Team opened the new season in Milton.
Lauren Taylor earned 3 gold and 2 silver medals. Ashley Allaire won 2 gold and 2 silver. Nate Shiers-Redhead brought back two gold and one silver. Also swimming to gold medals were Gracey Vanberkel and Rylan Miller.
Adam Bouma collected two silver medals, while his sister Zoe achieved one silver. Noah Brooks earned one silver and two bronze, while Nikki Cairns, Lily Charles, Jayden MacDonald and Gwen Randall all finished with one bronze medal.
Swimmers with 100 percent best times were Craig Bekker, Adam Bouma, Alexa Buchanan, Nikki Cairns, Jonathan Champagne, Owen Googe, Gracey Vanberkel, Joseph West and Justin Zechel.
The BYST have 50 swimmers off to Amherstview and another 18 headed to Scarborough this weekend. The team’s first hosted competition is on November 25-27 at the Templeman Menninga Aquatic Centre/Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
