Another indication Belleville’s new American Hockey League team is on its way came during the city’s recent capital budget deliberations.
Among the items approved was $110,000 for a new Zamboni icing resurfacing machine for the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Director of Recreation Mark Fluhrer says, with the AHL coming there was no option, since two machines must be ready to clear the ice between periods.
Fluhrer says the new Zamboni will be put into full service at the start of the 2017 – 2018 hockey season at the Yardmen Arena.
The Zambonis run seven days a week, including on the one ice surface during the summer.
