Belleville Police service responded to 58 calls for service between 29 October 2016 at 5 a.m. and 30 October 2016 at 5 a.m.
Fraud- Belleville Ontario
On the 29th of October 2016 at approximately 7:25 p.m. Belleville Police investigated a rental fraud. The investigation revealed that the complainant had responded to an advertisement for a rental property in Belleville listed on a popular classified website. Numerous photos of a property were shown with a rental agreement also being supplied. The complainant provided an internet deposit and then became suspicious, contacting the property owners where it was learned the advertisement was fraudulent. Police are reminding people to verify the listings are real by dealing in person and not to forward money without verifying the actual property.
