Below is a release from the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The Ministry of health released the First Quarter Results for Ontario Hospital Operating Rooms. All LHIN’s in Ontario were compared and only the Top 10 Facilities were identified with the Most Optimal Results. The Trenton OR was ranked in the top 10 three times out of 9 in the various benchmarks for Efficiency, while the only other hospital OR in the South East LHIN making the Top 10 was Perth Smith Falls, who ranked # 7 in Percentage pf Sa,e Day Cancelled or Postponed Cases. The results reflect all surgical cases reported for the First Quarter of this fiscal year (April to June 2016).
TMH Ranked #5 in Average Turnover Minutes – meaning their whole team have been very efficient getting patients into the OR and back out as this calculates the time a patient leaves the OR and another patient is able to enter. Everyone works together efficiently to ensure this happens, meaning from housekeeping to surgeons. Even case carts have to be put together and ready to make this number so efficient.
TMH OR ranked #6 in Percentage Subsequent Case Start On Time or Early. This means after there first case of the day, the OR staff continue to get patients in and out on time. Obviously being very efficient at making up time when cases run over.
Lastly, the TMH OR ranked #7 out of 10 for Percentage Scheduling Accuracy. This means they were able to ensure that surgical cases were booked properly. Sometimes the case may not be clear, a little ambiguous, but with staff follow-up they have been able to ensure the right cases are booked with the right timing, equipment etc to ensure they stay on time for their patients.
These Top 10 Results for the TMH OR – demonstrate the OR’s efficiency.
