A 58-year-old man is facing numerous charges following a collision between a truck and a parked vehicle in the LCBO parking lot in Tweed on Saturday.
At 2:40 p.m. an off duty police officer was alerted to the crash on Bridge Street West by a witness and he subsequently followed the pickup truck south on Highway 37, while responding officers were on route.
A vehicle stop was initiated on Lost Channel Road where the driver of the pickup truck was placed under arrest for impaired driving. The driver reportedly struggled with the officer and he attempted to leave in his truck.
As a result Kevin McMahon of Tweed was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in blood, resist peace officer and failing to stop at scene of a collision.
He is to appear in Belleville court on December 1, 2016.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man has been charged after a collision on Highway 62, south of Frankford Road in Belleville.
On Thursday night around 11:05 p.m. Central Hastings OPP responded to the crash where it’s reported a northbound car rear-ended a northbound van causing significant damage.
The car failed to stop, turned west on Frankford Road where it left the roadway and struck a mailbox.
Officers located the driver a short time later at his residence where he was subsequently arrested.
As a result Griffin Kirk of Frankford was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood and dangerous driving.
He is to appear in Belleville court on November 3, 2016.
