The Chair of the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area Board says the closure of the RBC is a loss and an opportunity.
Edie Haslauer tells Quinte News that the closure of the branch in the village is a tough pill to swallow.
She says it will be difficult for the many customers in the downtown who rely on the bank, but it is a loss for the bank itself.
Haslauer says at the same time, this is a chance for something great in its place.
She says that a beautiful building could attract a big client.
Loyalist College has been discussed about having a downtown location.
Retrofitting the site for residential is also an option.
Earlier this week RBC announced they would be merging into one branch, at the corner of North Front and Valleyview in Belleville.
No job losses have been announced.
