UPDATE @ 3:00 p.m.: Belleville Police say 20 year-old Benjamin Bellerive and 34 year-old Richard Hogan were both arrested in connection to the fight. Bellerive is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and was released on a promise to appear. Hogan was charged with assault with a weapon and was held for a Wednesday bail hearing.
There was a heavy police presence in downtown Belleville overnight. Several men were fighting with knives and a large machete.
Belleville police officers flooded the area around Front Street around 1:30 this morning.
The combatants ran for it, but police caught up to three suspects.
One man was taken to hospital with minor stab wounds. A machete was recovered on Front Street.
The investigation continues and witnesses are asked to contact Belleville Police.
