Belleville’s old Bay Bridge goes under the wrecking ball this week.
With the opening of the new multi-million dollar Bay Bridge CP rail overpass last Friday, the days of the old bridge are numbered.
Deputy director of engineering Ray Ford says the contractor is negotiating with Canadian Pacific on demolishing the bridge.
Although work in that area of Dundas Street will continue into the new year, the completion of the new bridge improves traffic flow in the area.
Construction of the new bridge/overpass and reconstruction of that portion of Dundas Street West from Coleman Street to Sidney came in at about $20 million.
