Nurses in Fort MacMurray will be able to benefit from a generous donation from Belleville General Hospital Intensive Care Unit Staff.
Following the devastating wildfires in Fort Mac earlier this year, nurses from the BGH ICU raised $5,000 for the Northern Lights Regional Hospital, through a raffle and yard sale.
Northern Lights Health Foundation’s Cindy Amergongen tells Quinte News the donation will go towards a nurses education fund and it’s a true example of nurses helping nurses, after they did so much to evacuate residents.
ICU Team Leader Charlene Quinn tells Quinte News, her group felt a strong need to support their fellow nurses and could relate to the struggles the hospital had to face.
The donation had to be approved by Quinte Health Care management, since staff are typically only able to organize workplace campaigns for the local foundations, or the United Way.
