The announcement came two weeks ago however the Belleville Senators only became official yesterday.
The American Hockey League’s board of governors gave its approval to the sale of the Senators’ AHL affiliate in Binghamton to Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk yesterday to clear the way for the franchise to move to Belleville next season. That meanns Binghamton’s home opener tomorrow night will be the final one with the Senators as their parent club after 15 years of an affiliation.
The Senators announced an 8 year lease arrangement with the city of Belleville September 26th.
