A race-car-pit-stop model for getting stroke victims quick diagnosis, developed in the Quinte region, is now being promoted across the province.
Quinte Health Care and Hastings-Quinte paramedic services worked on the new system which is being compared to they way pit stops are quickly made during car races.
Chief of Paramedic services Doug Socha says getting stroke patients quickly from ambulance to cat scan is important.
Socha explains how the pit-stop model works when the ambulance gets to hospital.
He says it adds only six minutes to the paramedics time at hospital.
