A 30-year-old Quinte West man is facing a second degree murder charge after an altercation Tuesday night.
At 6:30 p.m. Quinte West OPP along with the OPP Forensics Identification Unit responded to a report of a physical altercation that occurred at a location on Hwy #2 in the City of Quinte West.
Upon arriving on scene, officers located a 62-year old male with serious life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital, but was pronounced deceased a short time later.
A post mortem is scheduled for October 12, 2016. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Joshua Hickey was arrested at the scene and is charged with one count of second degree murder. He is being held in custody for a Bail Hearing on October 12, 2016 at Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, ON
The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Peter Donnelly of the Criminal investigation Branch (CIB) will be continuing with the investigation. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
