Nick Cousins has been told to find an apartment in Philadelphia. That’s good news for the 23 year old Belleville native as that means he’ll be with the Flyers when they open their new NHL season in Los Angeles on Friday.
Cousins will wear a new number reversing his American Hockey League call-up number of 52, to 25. And for the first 3 games, the 23 year old Quinte Red Devils graudate will be on Philadelphia’s first power play unit in place of the suspended Brayden Schenn.
Cousins played 36 games for the Flyers last season after his call-up from Lehigh Valley scoring 6 goals and 5 assists.
Meanwhile the NHL will feature just one of the 3 Subban brothers to start the season as P.K. moves from Montreal to Nashville. The Boston Bruins have sent goaltender Malcolm to their AHL team in Providence for a 4th season. And the Vancouver Canucks have assigned defenceman Jordan to Utica of the AHL.
All 3 Subban’s played their junior hockey with the Belleville Bulls.
And former Belleville Bulls captain Brendan Gaunce has made the roster of the Vancouver Canucks.
