Madison Excavating – Major Atom
The Madison Excavating Major Atoms played host this Thanksgiving weekend with 2 wins at their home openers in Marmora on Saturday verses Ajax-Pickering and in Madoc on Sunday against Oshawa.
Saturday’s game verses the Ajax-Pickering Raiders was a quiet start but after Ty McCambridge opened up the scoring, Quinte poured on the offense to take a commanding 6-1 win. Scoring for the Devils was Landon Wright, Gage Butcher(2), Beckett Ewart and Jared Langdon. Contributing with assists were Langdon, Ben Danford(2), Wright, Ewart, Ben Vreugdenhil and Kirk Stevenson. Net minder Glen McInnes was strong between the pipes.
Sunday’s game against the Oshawa Generals was again a slow start for the Devils as they fell behind 2-0 in the first period. Langdon made it a one goal difference before the end of the first, assisted by Braedyn Rogers and Ewart. The Devils tied the game midway through with a goal from Thomas Kuipers, assisted by Brody Partridge. Butcher put in the go ahead goal assisted by Stevenson. Langdon and Wright each added one each to take the 5-2 win, assisted by Carson Campbell, Danford, Rogersand Deacon Ellis. Dean Spry made some key saves in the net.
On deck: This week, the Madison Excavating Major Atoms are back on the road, traveling to face York-Simcoe on Saturday and back up to Richmond Hill on Sunday.
Foley Bus Lines – Peewee
The Foley Bus Lines Red Devils took to the road this past weekend to take on the Ajax-Pickering Raiders and the Markham Waxers. The result was two wins for the Devils by defeating the Raiders by a score of 4 to 3, and the Waxers by a score of 8 to 2.
On Oct 8, the Foley Bus Lines Peewee Red Devils travelled to Ajax to take on the rival Raiders in Ajax. The Devils got on the board early by scoring 2 goals in the first period. Scoring for the Devils were; Kendrick Webster and Corbin Roach. Helpers on the Red Devils goals went to Trevor Hoskin and Dalyn Wakely. The Raiders owned the 2nd period by scoring three goals and taking a 3 to 2 lead going into the final frame. The Devils got back in the game on a goal from Rheydan McCoy on feeds from Dalyn Wakely and Corbin Roach. Dalyn Wakely eventually scored the game winner with assists going to Donovan McCoy and Corbin Roach. Andrew Munro guarded the Red Devils cage for the first two periods, while Corbin Votary finished the game for the Devils in net for the final period. Final score; 4 to 3 in favour of the Red Devils
On Oct 9, the Bus Liners were on the road again to take on the Markham Waxers. Trevor Hoskin scored and Corbin Roach added a pair in the opening period to take a 3 to 1 lead. Helpers on the Devils goals went to Corin Roach with a pair, Dalyn Wakely with a pair, Trevor Hoskin and Donovan McCoy. The Devils would add four more goals in the 2nd period from Corbin Roach, Rheydan McCoy, Connor Hunt and Trevor Hoskin. Rheydan McCoy, Owen Gibson, Aaron Brown, Donovam McCoy, and Parker Stewart had assists. Liam Filip added the final Devil goal in the third period on a pass from Trevor Hoskin to finish the Waxers by a score of 8 to 2. Corbin Votary was in goal for the Devils win.
On Deck: Next action for the Foley Bus Lines Red Devils is October13 against the Clarington Toros at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Puck drops at 6:45pm.
KKP – Minor Atom
The KKP minor atom Devils swept a home and home with the Central Ontario Wolves over the weekend. One night after handing the defending OMHA champion Clarington Toros their first loss of the season, the Wolves hosted the Devils Saturday in Fenelon Falls only to see the visitors leave with a 6-1 victory. Deke Osterhout (2), Kaiden Harmon, Alek Asimis, Avery Wease, and Evan Erwin scored for the Devils.
In the return encounter Sunday in Deseronto, the Wolves were no match for Quinte who scored early and often in an 8-1 romp. Once again it was Osterhout who lead the charge with a hat trick while Wease, Erwin, Asimis, Jake Sage, and Ryland Harvey added single markers.
Liam Boyer and Lennox Stewart were both solid in goal for the Devils.
The KKP Minor Atom Devils return to action with three games this week – Tuesday in Deseronto against Peterborough, Saturday in Aurora against York Simcoe and Sunday back in Deseronto against Oshawa.
Vanderlaan Building Products – Minor Bantam
On Sunday October 2, 2016 the Vanderlaan Minor Bantams travelled to Lindsay to take on the first place Wolves. The Wolves jumped to a quick 2 two goal lead in the first period. The Devils answered back when Nathanial Burelle put one in the net with 19 seconds left in the first period. Assists for the goal went to Jett Butler and Zack Brooks. The Wolves would score another goal in the second period, winning the game 3-1. Ethan Fraser was between the pipes.
On Saturday October 8, 2016 the Minor Bantams hosted the Clarington Toros . The Toros came ready to play finding the back of the net late in the first period. The Devils finally got on the scoreboard midway through the third period with a goal by Nathanial Burelle assisted by Blake Maracle and Daniel Michaud. Late in the third the Devils score again to take the lead from a goal by Desi Davies assisted by Clayton Farrow and Brock Kelsh. In the final seconds of the game and with an empty net Daniel Michaud drew a penalty while on a breakaway and was awarded the goal. The final score was 3-1 Devils. Dixon Grimes was in net for the win and was awarded player of the game.
Rhino Sports and Playland – Minor Midgets
The Minor Midgets played host to the Kingston Frontenac’s on Wednesday and recently had been beaten by Kingston on pre-season play in August so there was a need to set the course of 4 games straight early on with a strong showing in the first meeting in regular season. The Red Devils would score six minutes into the game as Michael Andrews would grab his own rebound and beat the goalie short side as Zach Uens and Isaac Langdon would pick up the assists. The Minor Midgets would keep Kingston off of the scoreboard in the first period as Ethan Taylor was once again strong between the pipes when called upon.
Four minutes into the second period Isaac Langdon and Graham Dickerson would set up Michael Andrews on a sweet passing play created by the hard-nose corner work of Dickerson that allowed the play to unfold. The Rhino Sports and Playland Minor Midgets would trade-off chances during the middle part of the frame until a power play goal by Logan White as Derrick Vos would maintain his presence on the blue-line which allowed Jake Campbell to slide a crafty pass over to the wide open Logan White for the 3-0 lead heading into the third period.
Kingston would score 55 seconds into the third and then added another one just four minutes later but just three minutes after the Kingston goal Michael Andrews would make it 4-2 on another hard-nose goal crease scramble with Graham Dickerson poking the puck loose for the tap in. Then just two minutes later Jake Campbell would be set in on a breakaway pass by Derrick Vos who thread the needle between 3 Kingston players from blue line to blue line and Jake never broke stride as the pass was tape to tape. Jake would snap the puck just under the blocker (stick-side) to make it a 5-2 game. Kingston would score late in the game to make it a 5-3 victory.
Bonn Law – Minor Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Minor Peewee Team played two home games this week, resulting in a win and a loss. The Devils were in Napanee on Tuesday night when they played host to the Kingston Frontenacs. Ethan Miedema opened the scoring in the first minute of the second period, assisted by Jack Lowry. Spencer Cranley scored on the power play with just ten seconds left in the second period to put his team up by two, when he tipped Cal Uens shot. Chris Brydges also picked up an assist on the goal. Miedema added his second goal of the game early in the third, assisted by Nick Oke and Cranley. Despite keeping Kingston to very few shots in the third period, they managed to spoil the shutout with only a couple minutes left in the game. Aidan Crowley stood tall in the net in the 3-1 win.
On Saturday the Devils were back in Napanee for a tilt with the Whitby Wildcats. The Devils failed to capitalize on several chances early in the game and found themselves down by a goal at the end of the second period. The Wildcats added three more goals before the Devils would respond with two quick ones late in the third period. The Devils tried hard and had several chances near the end of the game, but it was too little too late and the boys were handed their first loss in league play. Cranley and uens did the scoring for the Devils, while Jack Dever picked up the lone assist in the game. Logan Vale was steady in the 4-2 loss.
On Deck: This week the Bonn Law Devils are home to Clarington on Wednesday in Cobourg and a big road trip to York Simcoe Saturday and Central Ontario Sunday.
Topper’s Pizza – Novice
The Topper’s Pizza Novice Red Devils hosted the Oshawa Jr. Generals on Saturday of the long weekend. The Devils put in a strong team effort to come from behind for a 6-3 victory.
The Devils had another strong defensive outing from Carson Lynch, Rykken Ellis, Blake Leblanc, Cooper Kelly, Riley Reid and Lucas Adamson, limiting the Generals offensive attack all game long. Nowl Wallace stood tall between the pipes, making many key saves.
Ryland Cunningham (3), Kolby Craig, Brendan Reid and Tavin MacDonald scored for the Devils. Ryland Cunningham (2), Owen Rivers (2), Kolby Craig, Brendan Reid, Connor Fetterley, Riley Reid and Carson Lynch recorded assists for the Devils.
On Deck: Up next, the novice Red Devils will host the York Simcoe Express on Saturday next weekend, before travelling to Markham for a road tilt versus the Waxers.
