The city of Belleville is reminding residents that the front entrance of City Hall will be closed to the public for more than two months, beginning next week.
The closure of the front entrance is to allow modifications to the elevator and expanded foyer footage to improve accessibility to City Hall.
Officials now say that on Monday the front entrance will be closed and the elevator will be out of service.
Earlier this year city council decided to make a major adjustment to the elevator to meet provincial standards for accessibility.
The present elevator will be lowered to the floor of the entrance.
The public will enter City Hall from Market Street and those with disabilities from Market Square.
The city has now issued a list of optional sites for paying bills or accessing some services.
For instance, some bills can be paid at Belleville Water, Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, and Public Works.
Some bills may also be paid online.
Officials say the renovated foyer should be re-opened to the public in early January and the elevator renovations completed soon afterward.
