It’s a big day for staff and members of the YMCA of Central East Ontario, as the organization has removed the interim tag from David Allen’s job title, officially naming him President and CEO today.
Allen has filled the job for the past year, as party of a lengthy YMCA career, dating back to the early 1980s as a camp councillor in Peterborough.
Allen says he’s thrilled and is especially glad the board went through an arduous hiring process, instead of just handing him the job earlier this summer.
Allen says his number one priority moving forward is to build a new YMCA facility in Belleville, with a price tag of around $15 million and they’ve already got an idea on a location or two as well.
He says it’s going to take lots of cooperation between the “Y”, its staff and all levels of government, to make happen.
