Clarification is in order on our story about low water supplies in the town of Stirling from earlier this week.
While there were indeed several water leaks in the system last month, they were all minor and were quickly
repaired.
Chief Operator of Water and Wastewater, Matthew Richmond, says the system is basically watertight underground, but leaks do occur, and they are fixed.
Meanwhile, because the underground piping is aging, quotes will be requested from companies specializing in testing for very small leaks underground.
Water levels remain very low in Stirling’s wells and there is a mandatory request of residents and businesses to cut back their consumption by 50%. Lawn watering and car washing is forbidden under the bylaw.
