The CEO of Via Rail made a whistle stop in Belleville Tuesday morning.
Yves Desjardins-Siciliano talked to the Chamber of Commerce breakfast at the Travelodge.
He says rail usage has increased dramatically, because they have made the train more convenient from Windsor to Quebec.
He says there will be a larger focus on regional service, including Belleville and Kingston.
Desjardins-Siciliano says that Belleville has seen increased ridership and he believes that will continue, with the installation of the electric train corridor .
There is now a third track for passenger trains, which goes through the entire Quinte region, making for a quicker trip for commuters along the Ottawa-Montreal-Toronto triangle.
