Some of Brighton’s newest residents were officially introduced to members of council on Monday night.
The Al Refai family, Housam, Dima and their three daughters, Naya, Talia and Ciline moved to Canada from Syria, back in February and have been settling into Brighton and the Quinte region since.
Eldest Daughter Naya spoke to Quinte News and says the family has really come to love its new community.
They’ve been getting acquainted with the community, with the three girls going to school and a couple of members of the family finding jobs as well.
Brighton Mayor Mark Walas is also hoping plenty of residents will come to a special welcome event this Thursday.
The meet and greet takes place at the Brighton Community Centre, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Al Refais were sponsored by Brighton’s BRING Committee, which helped to find them somewhere to live and to get them back and forth to school, job interviews and English lessons, over the past few months.
