As we reported yesterday, OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes honoured dozens of officers, volunteers and civilians, including Tim Durkin of Quinte News.
Constable Jesse Cassidy and Constable Brad Croghan were among those presented with awards for rescuing a 13-year-old Tweed youth who fell into a river in early April 2016.
Cassidy was awarded the Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving and Croghan was presented with the Commissioner’s Citation for Exemplary Performance of Duty.
In addition, OPP Communications Centre dispatcher Emily Nicholas was issued the Commissioner’s Commendation for Exemplary Performance of Duty for navigating the officers to the scene.
Fifteen-year-old Graham Fowler of Tweed was issued the Commissioner’s Commendation for Lifesaving for assisting his step-brother until officers arrived on scene
