Local hockey fans are pumped following the announcement that the City of Belleville is entering into an agreement to host the Ottawa Senators American Hockey League affiliate, at the Yardmen Arena.
About 100 people packed the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre to see owner Senators owner Eugene Melnyk announce the AHL affiliate will move from Binghamton New York, to Belleville, in time for the 2017/18 season.
After the city lost it’s beloved Belleville Bulls team at the end of the 2014–15 OHL season fans like Rob Golden said he thought it would be years before they city would be home to hockey again.
Golden is the spokesman of the Facebook group ‘Bring Back the Bulls’, which began following the team’s departure said the announcement said this is good news for the City.
Golden sais he is starting up a new Belleville Senators Facebook Page.
