The Progressive Conservative MPP for Hastings-Prince Edward says it’s about time municipalities in his riding found out how much infrastructure money they’ll get, but he’s happy the numbers are out.
MPP Todd Smith says there’s $13.5 million dollars headed to the riding, split up over the next four years, for work on transportation projects, roads and bridges.
Smith tells Quinte News, people in his riding have been waiting a few weeks and can finally plan ahead.
The highlights include a little more than $6.8 million for Belleville and just over $2.7 million for Prince Edward County.
Smith adds that it’s up to the municipalities to decide how to spend the cash.
Reacting to the announcement, Prince Edward County Mayor Robert Quaiff says, while they’re not sure specifically where the money will go, it will make a huge difference.
Earlier this month another large batch of funding was handed out to municipalities in Northumberland-Quinte West as well.
