A soldier at CFB Trenton has been convicted on two counts of child pornography-related charges and one count of arranging to commit a sex offense on a child.
David Rodwell was arrested at his Buffalo Avenue home in June 2015, after engaging in sexually explicit online chats about kids, with an undercover US Homeland Security Agent.
In those chats, with the agent posing as a mother of a three year old girl, Rodwell tried to arrange a sexual encounter with child in San Francisco and talked about taking a military flight from Trenton to get there.
In her decision Justice Elaine Deluzio says Rodwell’s testimony was inconsistent and not believable and that he clearly planned to follow through on his ideas, despite claims it was all just a fantasy.
Deluzio has ordered pre-sentence, psychiatric and sex offender reports to be submitted, with a sentencing hearing set for December 15.
