The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care wants to engage Ontarians in a conversation on how to improve access to quality care for people living with dementia and support those who care for them.
September 21 is World Alzheimer’s Day, and starting Wednesday, the province is inviting Ontarians to share their views in an online survey and will hold in-person consultations this fall.
Interim Executive Director of the Hastings Prince Edward Alzheimer’s Society, Dennis Tao says the push for more coordinated care is a good sign for the 228,000 Ontarians living with dementia.
He also praised the interest in rural areas like the Hastings Prince Edward community where there are thousands of people living with dementia. He said the numbers are projected to increase to 50,000 soon.
