The small event with the big heart will hit the streets of Belleville this weekend.
The Gaetene Harvey Memorial Walk will cover 53 kilometres of the Friendly City, over two days, raising funds for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s Cancer Care Campaign.
The walk was started by the family of Gaetene Harvey, who passed away from breast cancer in 2006.
Walkers will cover one kilometre for each year of Harvey’s life, walking 30 kilometres on Saturday, resting at the Comfort Inn Overnight, before finishing at the South Foster Park on Sunday.
Organizers are already about halfway to their $15,000 goal and you can get more information by visiting the event’s Facebook page.
