One section of the negotiations, to move Belleville’s Agricultural Society and Quinte Exhibition from the fairgrounds to a more feasible site, could wrap up this fall.
It was 1954 when the city and the Agricultural Society signed a 99-year lease, with 39 years now remaining.
Agricultural Advisory Committee Chair Councillor Jack Miller says the land is now valuable for residential and commercial purposes.
Miller says there won’t be any big change for the Society any time soon.
Miller expects some part of the negotiations to wrap up soon.
