This Saturday Belleville residents have an opportunity to see the city’s heritage first hand as the city holds its “Doors Open” event.
Once again Belleville is taking part in the provincial program Doors Open which gives residents an opportunity to visit sites to which they normally don’t have access.
Chair of the committee Stanley Jones says it encourages people to have knowledge of their municipality.
And Jones has a favourite he likes to visit.
These sites are open from 10 until 4 p.m. on Saturday.
There are 11 sites participating this year, most within a short distance of downtown: they are as follows
Glanmore National Historical Site
Children’s Safety Village
Bay of Quinte Yacht Club
Belleville City Hall
Hastings and Prince Edward Military Museum
Belleville Club
Belleville Public Library
Community Archives
Ekort Realty & PM (formely Greenley’s)
Old Fire-hall / City Hall (Circa 1867)
Belleville Fire Station 1
There is a special official opening ceremony at the Children’s Safety Village South @ John St Entrance.
