The burn ban in Prince Edward County has been lifted but water restrictions remain in effect.
Open air burning is again permitted, including burning brush, however residents must still have a valid burn permit for their property.
Despite the lifting of the burn ban, residents and visitors should be aware that outdoor water use restrictions are also still in effect in The County.
Quinte Conservation Authority still has the area in a Level 3 Low Water condition.
Water restrictions will remain in place until the drought level is downgraded to Level 2 or lower.
You can apply for an annual burn permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street, or at any County Library.
Burn permits cost $15 and expire at the end of the calendar year (December 31st, 2016).
