The Duncan McDonald arena in Trenton is getting busier and it’s being recommended that it be upgraded to make room for more exposure through the media.
Quinte West’s Corporate Finance Committee is recommending council move $25,000 from a score clock expenditure into paying for the design and tendering of a media booth.
Lots of major hockey games and tournaments, along with figure skating galas and other events, are scheduled for the arena and the current media booth is not roomy enough or properly equipped.
The new media booth would have room for several people, television equipment, computers and internet access.
If council approves of what will be a costly project, it’s hoped construction would begin early next year.
