Officials at 8 Wing Trenton have unveiled a new memorial park, dedicated to the past, present and future members of the Canadian Forces.
The new heritage park was officially opened this morning, in front of the 8 Wing Officer’s Mess and replaces the sunken garden which had been there for years before.
Wing Chief Warrant Officer Darcy Elder tells Quinte News the park, which is open to the public, has a number of very symbolic elements.
That cement area features plaques, recognizing some of the RCAF’s more significant mission.
The park is also surrounded by oak trees, donated by the United Kingdom in the 40’s, which symbolize the deep roots of 8 Wing in this community.
