Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee will have another look at whether or
not to approve an expanded commercial storage business on Highway 37, in Thurlow ward.
A handful of shipping containers serving as storage units now sits on the property at 970 Highway
37. The property used to be the location of Caddy’s Beef House.
Owner Glen Jarrell has applied for rezoning to put as many as 300 units on the property.
The planning committee had previously deferred any decision.
City staff is recommending that only a portion of the property be rezoned to allow storage units,
and that shipping containers not be allowed as storage units.
Jarrell’s lawyers will argue that the shipping containers should be allowed.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
