August was hotter and wetter than usual.
According to readings taken at CFB Trenton, last month’s average daily high
temperature was 28.5 Celsius.
The normal average daily high for this area is 25.3C.
The first 12 days of August this year featured highs of 30C, or higher.
The mercury topped out at 32.8C last month.
Meanwhile, 95.3 mm of rain fell in August, well above the normal 72.2 mm.
But most of that rain fell in just two days, on the August 13 and 16.
While an impressive amount of rain, it wasn’t enough to bring water levels in local
creeks and rivers to anywhere near normal levels, and everyone is still being asked
to cut back on water consumption.
