They are the defending Ontario Junior Hockey League and Dudley Hewitt Cup champions and with as many as 10 returning players, the Trenton Golden Hawks expect to contend again this year.
All star goaltender Daniel Urbani is gone leaving understudy Jackson McIntosh with the inside track on the number one job. However Hawks Coach and General Manager Jerome Dupont says rookies Tyler Fassl and Chris Janzen have also looked very good.
Fassl and Janzen combined to shutout Wellington in a pre season game Wednesday night.
Dupont expects to make three or four more cuts before the Golden Hawks open their new season next Friday at home against Newmarket.
Meanwhile the pre season continues tonight with Trenton at the Wellington Dukes, 7:30 at the Essroc Arena.
Wellington also opens their new season next Friday at home against Aurora.
