Thousands of Monarch butterflies and birds make a rest stop every year at Presqu’ile Point before flying south across Lake Ontario and this weekend the public is invited to watch the migration..
The park is putting on two days of butterfly tagging and bird banding.
Spokesman David Bree says Mexican storms and dry weather here took a toll, but there are still plenty of Monarchs at the park.
Bree says the public can watch the experts at work with both butterflies and the birds.
Tagging of the butterflies and banding of the birds will take place between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
There will be a number of children’s programs in place as well throughout the two days, including a search for butterflies in the fields, and nature craft at the Nature Centre.
