There’s a new man in charge of Ontario Provincial Police operations in Eastern Ontario.
Pembroke native Chris Harkins has been promoted to Chief Superintendent and was named Commander of the OPP East Region today.
Harkins has a policing career that spans 26 years and most recently was in charge of the General Headquarters Fleet, Supply and Weapons Services Bureau.
Harkins will be in charge of more than 1,200 uniformed officers across the East Region, which stretches 43,000 square kilometres and includes 16-host and 15-satellite detachments.
