Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate, after a man was injured during a standoff with police near Napanee last night.
Napanee OPP Officers were called to a campground in Adolphustown around 7:00 p.m., where a 30 year-old man had barricaded himself in a trailer.
After about four hours of negotiating, members of the Emergency Response Team forced their way in and arrested the suspect, before transporting him to hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No other details were released, but the SIU is called in any time there is a death, injury, or allegation of sexual assault against during police involved incidents.
