Fans of the Tragically Hip had a bittersweet evening Saturday night as Canadians nationally and locally gathered to watch CBC’s live streaming of the native Kingston band’s last concert that rocked their home town.
Locally, Trenton High School, Boston Pizza Belleville, Mustang Drive In, Brighton Speedway, The Empire Theatre and Wellington were live streaming locations for those that could not obtain tickets to watch the iconic band’s last performance of their Machine Man Poem tour with lead singer Gord Downie who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Wellington Park saw well over 500 fans gathered to watch the broadcast.

Attendees at the event, Joanna and Lisa Vanlint, Toronto residents vacationing in Wellington for the week, got a chance to see the Tragically Hip on August 12 in Toronto.
Lisa described the Toronto venue as a ‘Great Big Giant Hug’.

The Empire Theatre in Belleville was pre-booked for over 600 that planned to be in attendance, those numbers were slightly down with slightly over 400 people.
