A Belleville councillor has hopes of discussing pedestrian access to the highway 401 overpasses, during this week’s conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Councillor Paul Carr has concerns about people who are crossing the 401 to get to Walmart and other stores in Thurlow Ward.
Carr says the city is already talking with the province regarding future expansion of the highway in the area and he hopes to discuss the issue with the Minister of Transportation.
Carr says “you can say they shouldn’t do it but you can’t ignore the fact pedestrians are crossing the highway.”
