Fire prevention officials in Belleville are putting out a warning to smokers… stop flicking your butts out the window in these dry conditions.
Fire Prevention Officer John Lake is sending out a reminder for smokers to make sure they dispose of their cigarettes in approved, non-combustible, containers.
He says with these “never before seen conditions”, it wouldn’t take much for a small cigarette butt to start a huge fire, very quickly.
That follows along with rules against all outdoor burning, which is also in effect in Belleville and other municipalities around Quinte.
