Neil Ellis, Member of Parliament for Bay of Quinte, represented the Government of Canada and delivered remarks at the formal announcement that the city of Greater Napanee will host the 2018 World Barefoot Waterski Championship.
The World Championship will be held at Dream Lake from August 12-18, 2018 with over 120 skiers from more than 12 countries competing.
This will be the first time the event has ever been held in Canada.
Dream Lake is currently playing host to the National Championships from August 5-7, 2016.
Local national team member Becky Moynes, who is ranked 7th in the world among women, is competing at the event. Other local dignitaries included the Mayor of Greater Napanee, Gordon Schermerhorn, MPP Todd smith, and former MP the Hon. Lyle Vanclief.
