The march of local rugby players to international competition continues.
Quinte Secondary School graduate Emily Babcock has been named to the Canadian Women’s Under 20 Rugby squad. They will play the English side in a 3 game series beginning August 18th in Nottingham, England.
Babcock is a former member of the Belleville Bulldogs and recently won the Canadian Rugby Championship Under 20 Women’s title with Team Ontario.
Yesterday, Belleville’s Tia Svoboda was selected to the Canadian squad for next month’s World Under 18 Women’s Sevens Rugby Championships in France.
Meanwhile 8 members of various Belleville Junior Bulldog teams have been chosen to play for their respective Ontario teams at the upcoming national junior championships in the Toronto area. They are Taryn McLachlan, Hanna Fitzgerald, Page O’Gorman, Nadia Stinson and Addison Walker. Nathan Pinder, Matt Genereaux and Frank Vreugdenhill.
