About 60 people attended a meeting in Bancroft Tuesday on the issue of Ontario Hydro power cut-offs.
The outdoor meeting in a park was prompted by the story of 74-year-old Peggy Mills of the Bancroft area who has been without hydro for weeks because she can’t afford it and also pay for food and lodging.
Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith addressed the crowd.
Smith says his office gets at least three calls a week from people who have had their hydro cut off and he blames it mainly on the cost of green energy contracts.
Smith says it costs about $600 to get reconnected.
He called the cut offs “morally wrong.”
