The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls for service between July 30th, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. and July 31st, 2016 at 5:00 a.m.
Disturbance
Belleville, Ontario – On July 31st, 2016 at 12:40 a.m. police responded to a Hillside St. residence in relation to a disturbance. The suspect had fled on foot but was located by officers in the downtown core. A 21-year-old Belleville man was arrested for breach of the peace to prevent a reoccurrence. No one was injured in this incident.
Arrest in thefts from cars
Belleville, Ontario – On July 31st, 2016, at 2:00 a.m. police attended in the Purdy Street area as a witness had observed a male breaking into a parked car. Officers set up containment and at 2:10 a.m. an officer observed a male angling across Sidney Street at the overpass. The suspect’s pockets were bulging from all of the coins and three cell phones that had been stolen from unlocked vehicles. A 34-year-old Belleville man has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He will appear in court on September 1st, 2016.
