Belleville Council was to have a special meeting of council Tuesday July 26th, to discuss the expansion and renovation of the Yardmen Arena, however that has been cancelled.
Thursday morning, Quinte News ran a story of the meeting, which was to take place in open session at 9:00 a.m.
Thursday afternoon that meeting was cancelled.
This is the second time that the discussion of the arena and a hockey entity was expected to be held in open session. This is the second time it has not happened.
At the end of June, Mayor Taso Christopher told Quinte News that the meeting of council July 4th, would discuss a hockey entity possibly moving to Belleville.
After a closed meeting of council, no update was made public.
Christopher says the discussions have many moving parts and he appreciated the patience of the public.
No future meeting has been re-scheduled to discuss either renovations to the Yardmen arena, or the relocation of a hockey team.
Belleville Council’s next meeting has been scheduled for August 8, 2016.
