A Belleville woman has been handed a suspended sentence with conditions in connection to an animal cruelty conviction.
Ontario SPCA officers visited Dorothy Bailey’s home on January 14th, after getting a call about animals in distress.
They found a rabbit, two dogs and a cat, which were examined by a vet and then Bailey was ordered to increase ventilation in the area the animals were being kept.
Four days later, when Bailey didn’t meet those conditions, the rabbit was removed and she was charged with two counts of failing to provide medical attention and the necessary care to an animal.
She was found guilty on July 11th and along with the suspended sentence, Bailey must allow OSPCA officers onto her property for random inspections for a one year period.
